This digital solution is designed to determine the required number of elevators available for evacuating people with reduced mobility and persons with disabilities in case of a building fire. The calculation is performed in accordance with national building codes and enables rapid assessment of design compliance with safety requirements.
The document implements a calculation algorithm based on determining the elevator round-trip time, the required number of trips, and the total evacuation time. Based on these parameters, the minimum number of elevators needed to ensure evacuation within the allowable time is determined.
The input data include number of evacuation floors, building geometric parameters (sum of floor elevations), elevator nominal speed, total number of evacuees, elevator rated capacity. The output is a justified value of the number of elevators required to ensure safe evacuation.
The digital solution fully automates the key stages of the engineering calculation:
Additionally, validation logic is implemented: if the calculated evacuation time exceeds the allowable value, the system automatically increases the number of elevators until compliance is achieved.
The solution can be used for:
It is particularly useful for rapid “what-if” analysis when building parameters or occupant numbers change.
The document is structured as an interactive engineering calculator with a clear workflow:
1. Input Data Section
The user specifies initial parameters (number of floors, elevator speed, number of occupants, etc.).
2. Calculation Module
A sequence of formulas is implemented:
3. Validation Logic
The calculated evacuation time is compared with the allowable limit, with automatic adjustment of the result if necessary.
4. Results Section
The final number of elevators is displayed along with intermediate calculations and justification.
Important: You can adapt the document to your specific needs — edit formulas, add schemes, or change units of measurement. TechEditor automatically handles unit conversion and dimension control, correctly calculating expressions with mixed units.
