Types of TechEditor Documents
TechEditor supports the following document types:
Report: Classic text document for printing or exporting to PDF (e.g., A4 format);
Diagram: For developing schemes and visualizing algorithms (similar to Excel or Mathcad);
Mathsheet: For quick calculations without final formatting;
Application: A mini-program that extends user capabilities in creating and presenting information (no other software needed!).
Additionally, you can import an Excel spreadsheet (.xls) into your project for use in primary calculations. For more details on TechEditor document types, refer to this article.

How often is the program updated?
Releases occur every few months. Program generations (major versions 1, 2, 3, ...) are updated approximately once a year.
My antivirus is showing warnings about TechEditor. Can I trust the developers?
Antivirus activity against TechEditor, like any other program, is normal. You can trust the developers and install TechEditor on your computer. Dystlab guarantees the safety and absence of any hidden threats to your computer from their software.
In addition, all TechEditor binaries are signed with appropriate digital certificates that increase the level of security and guarantee the integrity of the software.
Can I perform calculations in TechEditor and write a report in Word?
TechEditor supports the DOCX format in both directions (import and export), but when exporting, you lose the automation of calculations. Therefore, it is recommended to import documents from other programs into TechEditor — this way you can work in a familiar text editor and further automate calculations.
How does TechEditor differ from Excel?
Unlike MS Excel and other spreadsheets, TechEditor allows you to develop engineering reports and explanatory notes in various formats. If you are used to performing calculations in Excel, then in TechEditor these tasks can be realized in diagrams. Unlike spreadsheets, diagrams do not have cells and do not limit you in moving elements. Also, diagrams have a more familiar, "natural" mathematical notation - instead of cell addresses like "A1+B2", you operate directly with variables, constants, and functions: "x:=4.5", "S:=M/W", "f(x):=A*sin(w*t)" and so on.
In addition, all math expressions in TechEditor support units of measurement. You can also connect previously created spreadsheets to your TechEditor project and use them as resources.
Where can I ask questions about the program?
User support is provided on our Discord server. Join the community and get access to forums, public chats, video streams, and more.
Is it possible to order a report or calculation in TechEditor for my tasks?

TechEditor is an intuitive, feature-rich tool designed for developing engineering education models and computational tasks. The editor enables rapid implementation of mathematical models, process visualization, and real-time parameter tuning, making it highly effective for demonstrating complex electrical engineering phenomena. A key feature of TechEditor is its "formula → variables → output" workflow combined with slider-based parameter controls, allowing users to instantly observe how changing values impact the final result.
Additionally, the software supports multiple numeral systems and data plotting, which enhances both the visual clarity and analytical depth of the models. For instructors, the ability to create practical assignment templates with automated grading is particularly valuable, significantly streamlining course preparation and assessment. Consequently, I actively integrate TechEditor into the curriculum for circuit modeling and developing virtual lab environments for students.

Dystlab offers an excellent opportunity to automate routine processes and turn the many trivial tasks common in engineering into an interactive guide where students can follow, step by step, how a particular factor or parameter affects the final solution. In the era of large language models, it is precisely the understanding of processes and their critical evaluation that have become the key advantages of a qualified engineering professional, and Dystlab offers an excellent opportunity to develop these qualities. The combination of engineering calculations and an integrated Python interpreter, complemented by a unique formatting and documentation solution that forms the foundation of this product, provides a unique opportunity to tackle the various stages of a problem without leaving a single environment.
We develop digital solutions for engineering companies and design businesses. We advise, research, and help with the automation of calculations, design, and systematization of technical documentation.
