TechEditor User Support: Documentation, Community, and Guides

TechEditor User Support: Documentation, Community, and Guides

Hi, Vitalii here, the founder of Dystlab. As an engineer who became a software developer, I know the feeling all too well: you’ve downloaded a new program, full of inspiration, but at some point, you get stuck on what seems like a simple task. Stuck at some point? Encountered an error that breaks your entire calculation logic? That's completely normal.

That's why at Dystlab, we're building more than just a program; we're building an entire support ecosystem. We want every user, from a student to the head of a design office, to feel confident. This article is your personal map to all the resources that will help you master your projects in TechEditor.

Discord — The Heart of Our Community and Support

From the very beginning, I wanted our support to be more than just a "service" — it had to be a living conversation. I wanted engineers to be able to reach out directly to developers and peers, rather than filling out an impersonal form. That’s why we made Discord the heart of our ecosystem.

Our Discord is a place where a student from Kharkiv can get advice from an experienced engineer in Toronto. It's our digital workshop where ideas are born, problems that could halt a project for hours are solved in minutes, and new partnerships are formed.

What kinds of questions can you ask here?

Literally anything related to your work in TechEditor:

  • How can I perform a three-hinged arch calculation?
  • Why is this formula giving me a dimension error? Here's my screenshot.
  • Hey everyone, any tips on how to format a report like this more elegantly?
  • I think I found a bug. Where can I report it?

You can ask questions using text, add screenshots, or even share short videos.

Support for FREE & PRO Users: What's the Difference?

Our rule is simple: anyone using TechEditor deserves help. It doesn't matter if you have the free version for personal projects or an educational license from your university.

At the same time, for our PRO users, who invest in the project's development with their subscription, we've created a private channel. This is our way of saying thank you — with priority and more in-depth support for the entire subscription period.

The Power of Community: Don't Hesitate to Help Others!!

But the real magic begins when you start helping. See a question you know the answer to? Don't hesitate to jump in! Often, your advice as a fellow practicing engineer can be even more valuable and clearer than a developer's response. This is how the best engineering communities in the world work.

Self-Service Learning: Official Dystlab Resources

We know that many engineers love to figure things out on their own. If you're one of them, here are three knowledge sources created just for you.

1. The "Guides" Blog

You're already here! This blog is a constantly updated base of practical articles, tutorials, and case studies. We cover both basic and advanced TechEditor features using real-world examples. Use the search function — the answer you're looking for might already be in an article.

2. Official Knowledge Base

For those who prefer detailed technical documentation. Here you’ll find comprehensive information on all the program's functions, commands, and objects. It's the perfect place for a deep dive into TechEditor's capabilities.

3. TechEditor YouTube channel

Seeing is believing. On our YouTube channel, we publish video tutorials, feature overviews, and webinar recordings. Subscribe so you don't miss out on new helpful videos.

Bonus: A Quick Discord Guide for Engineers

If you're new to Discord, here are a few tips to make your communication in our community more comfortable and effective.

Why should engineers use Discord?

Discord is a powerful and, importantly, mostly free communication tool. It allows you to do more than just text chat; you can also have voice and video calls and share your screen, which is critical for resolving technical issues. The platform has a user-friendly mobile app, so you can always stay connected.

Basics of Formatting Code and Formulas

To make your formulas or code snippets readable, it's best to format them. Discord supports simple Markdown.

  • Italics: *your text*
  • Bold: **your text**
  • Underline: __your text__
  • Single-line code block: `a+b*c`
  • Multi-line code block: ```your multi-line code...```

For TechEditor, we recommend using single-line code blocks for math formulas and LaTeX scripts. For example:

`f(x):=A*sin(4*x)/8`
`\frac{2*a}{3*b}`

No matter how complex the challenge seems, remember: you are not alone. The entire community of Ukrainian engineers and the Dystlab team are ready to help you. Our goal isn't just to sell you software, but to give you confidence in every single one of your calculations.

We look forward to seeing you on our Discord!
